The Secret to Life?

Not really a secret, but what E.J. Dionne, Jr. refers to as the ‘Heschel Imperative’ in Souled Out seems to a good rule to live by:

From Man is Not Alone: a philosophy of religion by Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel:

We must keep our own amazement, our own eagerness alive. And if we ever fail in our quest for insight, it is not because it cannot be found but because we do not know how to live, or how to be aware of the mind’s narcissistic tendency to fall in love with its own reflection, a tendency which cuts thought off its root.

Rabbi Heschel, walking beside Dr. King: "Even without words, our march was worship...I was praying with my legs."
